(Quick backstory: My boyfriend and I are in a LDR. The country we live in is pretty small, so getting from city to city doesn't take long, so I can see him quite often. However, we're both super busy with our own things and he'll be studying abroad soon, which means I won't see him for ages at a time.)
I've been with my boyfriend for almost a year and a half now. Throughout, I've developed harmless and very short lasting crushes on random people who I thought were attractive, as is normal. They have not threatened my relationship whatsoever.
However, very recently I've developed a crush on a guy, and this crush I'm afraid is a bit more serious. Although I really love my boyfriend, we've never really had much in common. We're literally polar opposites but we've managed to make this relationship last.
However, he's not always super talkative, and because we're not interested in the same things, sometimes it's tough to communicate. This other guy, however, I have a lot more in common with and we seem to get a long really well. Regardless, I've tried to brush this crush off - but he's stuck in my mind.
I don't want to leave my boyfriend, whom I love, for this other guy. I suggested to him that we're becoming quite distant (which we are) and that we need to work on this relationship, which he's agreed with and what we're currently trying to do, because it hurts imagining my life without him. However, just the fact that I've developed a pretty deep crush on this other guy (getting annoyed when he doesn't text me, wanting his attention, etc.) is worrying me that there's a deeper issue at hand, and it's not just distance or lack of communication separating us.
I'm worried I don't love him anymore, and that I'm just lying to myself, saying that I do. I'm worried that if we can't keep a stable relationship while he's still in the country, then things will become toxic when he goes abroad.
I feel as if I'm sort of betraying him.
What do you guys think? Can this crush go away, and make things go back to normal or is there something else?
What else can I do? - I'm so confused!
Thanks in advance!
