hi guys,
i am in my final year of my undergraduate studies and i have been living with my parents for the past 21 years now. My family runs a business and lets just say that money isn't a problem. freedom from parents isn't a problem either. i am thinking of going to london my my masters studies but i'm only doing this because i want to live on my own at least for an year. even if i ask my parents they would no doubt allow me to just live out an year in london not doing anything and just chilling there. the problem i that i dont really know what i would do there throughout my day if i dont have any commitments such as college or work. i have to ultimately join my family business and hence the degree doesnt really matter. why i wanted to do a degree is because it is an easy way to meet locals who are of my age and also the fact that it would fill up my schedule there. should i go and study in london or do you guys have any advice on something else that i could do?
Thanks for the help guys.

In the circumstances you describe, I'd suggest you at least consider spending that year volunteering, helping people less fortunate than yourself.

i understand what you say, i have already done that on a large scale here. but i really want to discover myself. i have been in a shell for 21 years and i just want to break free. i love volunteering and helping other people, so of course some of my time will be spent there but what else is possible?

Set yourself an impossible challenge that requires you to work in a team.
Make it only just impossible, but be sure others agree it can't be done in a year. Then do it.
You won't find yourself by looking inside yourself. You'll find yourself by challenging yourself. And possibly failing.
You've had life easy, see how you cope when life isn't so easy. Test yourself.

Take advantage of your unique situation. You can volunteer in a different way than you have. We don’t know your interests, personality, etc so we can’t directly advise. Move on your own- it’s important I agree , but don’t exist without a purpose.
