What to do

Hi. So there is this person with whom I've recently become friends with. I mean we are classmates and before we only texted each other for notes or some related issues. But one day I had gone to college alone and he was there and we started speaking. And it became kind of a regular issue, like he used to walk with me till my bus stop every Tuesday. But even on other days he used to beg me to come with him but I usually went with my other friends . One day he suddenly said that he likes me. I wasn't too shocked because I kind of got the feeling that he likes me. I told him at that time that I only see him as a friend and he was like okay since we are in our final year he wants to concentrate on studies but he just wanted to confess. I was like okay. So I mean, I thought both of us were clear ,nothing would change and we would be friends like before. But off late, he's been kind of more flirty and whenever I come to college he's like come with me, let's go here and there and stuff and also he's been texting me a lottttttttt more. And to be honest, its getting annoying. I don't like to be rude so I've tried to give him many signals that I'm not interested and in fact sometimes I take hours to respond to his messages and whenever he's asking me out I'm like I'm busy and stuff but he is not getting it. Even the days he walks with me, he's always telling me to stay longer. This one time we spoke for like an hour and he's still like stay some more time .I mean he is good friend and I would like to remain friends with him, since we're graduating inn like 6-7 months, so I don't want to be say something too rude but 'm just getting irritated now. Moreover, he lies a lot. It's mostly jokes . Whenever he lies, he tells me later, I lied to you about this, and he has an explanation, but i don't trust him completely



And he also has this sudden changes. Like recently, we were sitting near my bus stop, and this 2 people were like taking photos, whether it's our photos or the bus stop, I wasn't sure. So I just asked him, "look are those people taking our photos?" So he was suddenly like I'm going to fight them, only one of us will be alive today and shit. I was like chill dude. I was so uncomfortable. From that time I've been kind of avoiding him. And he's like scold me, or hit me but don't avoid me. So yeah, like I said I would like to remain friends but not too close. Please help I'm confused about what to do. I want to make it clear without being rude.
